Since its inception in 2008, 'Lapsi: The Annual Publication of the Old Church of St Julian the Hospitaller' has remained faithful to the principal aims for which it was established: to provide a platform for the publication of research across a wide range of disciplines, including hagiography, liturgy, theology, music, art, history, tradition, and Sacred Scripture.
The intention of Lapsi has never been merely to reiterate what is already known, nor to serve as a fundraising vehicle - as is often the case with comparable publications - or as a volume filled with prefatory messages from committee members. Rather, its purpose is to extend the mission initiated by Dun Anton Sciberras through his archival work at Lapsi church: namely, to investigate and compile historical knowledge concerning all matters related to St Julian - the saint himself, the locality, the parish, and the church which bears his name. In addition, the publication has also embraced more general themes that, in various ways, remain connected to these core subjects.
